[rev_slider alias=”walled-garden”] The children of Margaret McMillan Nursery School are fortunate to have a very extensive, secluded and safe garden area with walls surrounding it on all sides. Many parents have described it as “a child’s paradise”. We make every effort to ensure the children spend time in the garden during the day. When wet, wellingtons plus all in one rain suits are provided for splashing in puddles. During the summer all activities are carried out in the garden where the children play, learn and exercise in the open air.

Walled Garden

A safe, enriching and stimulating environment

Our spacious and secluded garden is a unique feature of our provision and provides the children with a safe and stimulating space in which to learn to manage risk whilst exploring nature. Being in the outdoors is both positive from a health perspective but also for connecting children with the environment and teaching them to appreciate their world. Our high natural stone walls and leafy trees create our very own secret garden that the children adore spending time in, navigating the spaces and creating a world of imagination with their friends. Many of our families have described it as “a child’s paradise”.

Our children are granted the opportunity to access this wonderful outdoor space daily come rain or shine. We the summer months giving the opportunity for breakfast in the garden. Activities are provided to complement what we offer indoors but on a larger scale creating a unique chance for sustained shared thinking, developing co-ordination and being physically active.
